7/2 Timeout Tuesday...The wait is over edition...

AOA as usual is our gracious host:

1) As many of you know, I'm a huge fan of Jordan Pruitt. I make no secret about my some would call it obsession on this blog about her. I've talked about her and promoted her music....Well, after 2 weeks of torture thank you to the execs at NBC, her audition was FINALLY shown last night. (I rushed home after work to watch NBC (must say something, I can't stand NBC otherwise))...She did not fail to impress me once again....and Christina Aguilera (another one of my favourite singers)....If I haven't bragged about her enough...here's her audition. So good, I had to give you 2 videos. I hope she wins.

2) As I was talking to my friend Emmy on Twitter last night, about 1. Something else was happening, the replacement refs were trending on twitter. For those of you that missed the blatantly obvious interception against the Seattle Seachickens...here ya go...These replacement refs have gotta go, but I must admit, it's pure comedy watching these guys, even if they suck at their job

3) One thing to really look forward to at the end of the week is 1st payday....it's been a long time coming...yay, money....

7/2)  Because I think more Jordan Pruitt is a good thing....

7/2 Timeout Tuesday....The intended to be that didn't quite end up so random version

h/t to AOA our gracious host

1) I'm deeply upset at myself for missing the live broadcast of Jordan Pruitt last night on the Voice (the only show on NBC that's actually worth watching outside of football). Did anybody get a chance to hear her? As some of y'all know I'm a HUGE fan of hers and certainly don't fail to not promote her here at my blog....which if you haven't heard this song...you probably should....and while I'm on the topic...I hope she was chosen by another one of my favorite singers Christina Aguilera, it would just be epic beyond epic...

2) I would be absolutely insensitive if I didn't mention anything about 9/11. Today would have been my grandmother's birthday...she was very good at hiding her age, as she didn't want anyone to know. I miss her dearly. May perpetual light upon her, and may the souls of all the faithfully departed rest in peace. I was in high school back when 9/11 happened, and was very appreciative of my math teacher who actually had us do work instead of watching tv. We remember all of the fallen and may perpetual light shine upon them. We beg for God's mercy on our nation, and to convert the terrorists to the light of Christ and Holy Mother Church. Any religion that actively promotes violence in the name of God, and needs you to have forced conversions, is not a true religion, period.

3) It's football season. Which means Go Panthers :D...though we lost, there's still plenty of time in the season to get to a good record. I must say Peyton Manning looked very good on Sunday against Pittsburgh, once John Fox let the chains loose and let Peyton be Peyton. I must say, I want to see a Panthers vs. Broncos superbowl this year. Here's hoping.

7/2) I was totally going to make something un-related to Jordan Pruitt here, but quite frankly, we all know I wasn't going to do that...so thus here's another song to hear her voice :)

7/2 Time out Tuesday...The one sentence version

AOA as usual is our host

1) Cats are overlords, they demand cuddles...and they get them

2) Dogs think they can walk up and kiss anything they want....

3) Keep a bird in its cage....it won't crap all over the floor that way

7/2) I really do want a cat....much easier to take care of :D

7/2 Timeout Tuesday....the Coeur d'Alene intro edition

AOA is our gracious host once again

1) I have recently moved to Coeur d'Alene, ID. It's actually nice to be able to be in a city that has stuff in it. I have found all of the necessary things for survival: Domino's Pizza, a name brand grocery chain, and NIC.

2) Speaking of NIC....I walked on campus, and scored myself an interview for Thursday. I ask for your prayers that I be guided by the Holy Spirit, and that the interviews go well, that I may land a job for this semester.

3) Everyone knows that I hate people, but it's nice when my existence is acknowledged. A friend of mine is hosting me, until my new place is ready.

7/2) There are more things to be annoyed at...that will be for later in the week....

7/2 Timeout Tuesday...the Cardinal Dolan Edition

h/t to AOA of course

Cardinal Dolan has a blog...he has written an official response to the Al Smith dinner....

I'm giving the full response here, my comments will make up 7/2 points

Last week I was out in Anaheim for the annual Supreme Convention of the Knights of Columbus. It was, as usual, a most uplifting and inspirational event.
In his rousing address to the thousands of delegates, representing 1.8 million knights, Dr. Carl Anderson, the Supreme Knight, exhorted us to a renewed sense of faithful citizenship, encouraging us not to be shy about bringing the values of faith to the public square. This duty, he reminded us, came not just from the fact that we are Catholic, but also from the fact that we are loyal Americans.
He then went on to announce a promising initiative of the Knights of Columbus to fostercivility in politics. Quoting a very recent study, he noted that over 80% of Americans are fed up with the negativity, judgmentalism, name-calling, and mudslinging of our election-year process, and eagerly want a campaign of respect, substance, amity —civility!
For seven decades, the Al Smith Dinner here in New York has been an acclaimed example of such civility in political life. As you may know, every four years, during the presidential election campaign, the Al Smith Dinner is the venue of history, as it is the only time outside of the presidential debates that the two presidential candidates come together, at the invitation of the Al Smith Foundation, through the archbishop of New York, for an evening of positive, upbeat, patriotic, enjoyable civil discourse.  This year, both President Obama and Governor Romney have accepted our invitation. I am grateful to them.
The evening has always had a special meaning, as it is named after Governor Al Smith, the first Catholic nominated, in 1928, as a candidate for president, who was viciously maligned because of his own Catholic faith.  Smith was known as The Happy Warrior, because while he fought fiercely for what he believed was right, he never sought to demonize those who opposed him.  And, the dinner named in his honor is truly life-affirming as it raises funds to help support mothers in need and their babies (both born and unborn) of any faith, or none at all.
The Al Smith Dinner has never been without controversy, since, as Carl Anderson reminded us, politics can inspire disdain and negativity as well as patriotism and civility.
This year is surely no exception: I am receiving stacks of mail protesting the invitation to President Obama (and by the way, even some objecting to the invitation to Governor Romney).
The objections are somewhat heightened this year, since the Catholic community in the United States has rightly expressed vigorous criticism of the President’s support of the abortion license, and his approval of mandates which radically intruded upon Freedom of Religion. We bishops, including yours truly, have been unrelenting in our opposition to these issues, and will continue to be.
So, my correspondents ask, how can you justify inviting the President? Let me try to explain.
For one, an invitation to the Al Smith Dinner is not an award, or the provision of a platform to expound views at odds with the Church. It is an occasion of conversation; it is personal, not partisan.
Two, the purpose of the Al Smith Dinner is to show both our country and our Church at their best: people of faith gathered in an evening of friendship, civility, and patriotism, to help those in need, not to endorse either candidate. Those who started the dinner sixty-seven years ago believed that you can accomplish a lot more by inviting folks of different political loyalties to an uplifting evening, rather than in closing the door to them.
Three, the teaching of the Church, so radiant in the Second Vatican Council, is that the posture of the Church towards culture, society, and government is that of engagementand dialogue. In other words, it’s better to invite than to ignore, more effective to talk together than to yell from a distance, more productive to open a door than to shut one. Our recent popes have been examples of this principle, receiving dozens of leaders with whom on some points they have serious disagreements. Thus did our present Holy Father graciously receive our current President of the United States.  And, in the current climate, we bishops have maintained that we are open to dialogue with the administration to try and resolve our differences.  What message would I send if I refused to meet with the President?
Finally, an invitation to the Al Smith Dinner in no way indicates a slackening in our vigorous promotion of values we Catholic bishops believe to be at the heart of both gospel and American values, particularly the defense of human dignity, fragile life, and religious freedom. In fact, one could make the case that anyone attending the dinner, even the two candidates, would, by the vibrant solidarity of the evening, be reminded that America is at her finest when people, free to exercise their religion, assemble on behalf of poor women and their babies, born and unborn, in a spirit of civility and respect.
Some have told me the invitation is a scandal. That charge weighs on me, as it would on any person of faith, but especially a pastor, who longs to give good example, never bad. So, I apologize if I have given such scandal. I suppose it’s a case of prudential judgment: would I give more scandal by inviting the two candidates, or by not inviting them?
No matter what you might think of this particular decision, might I ask your prayers for me and my brother bishops and priests who are faced with making these decisions, so that we will be wise and faithful shepherds as God calls us to be?
In the end, I’m encouraged by the example of Jesus, who was blistered by his critics for dining with those some considered sinners; and by the recognition that, if I only sat down with people who agreed with me, and I with them, or with those who were saints, I’d be taking all my meals alone.

Your Eminence: Thank you sincerely for this explanation of your actions....That said, I still disagree with the action at hand, and here's why:

1. Obama has proven time and time again to be an enemy of the Church...

We've tried to converse with him, dialogue so to speak. He has done nothing but insult our intelligence (paraphasing your words) and lie to us about trying to seek common ground. He has no intention on seeking common ground with us at all. I don't really think he has any respect for the Church at all, or what respect he does have is for a warped image of the Church. And while Jesus did eat with sinners, he certainly corrected them, and he certainly was not a pasifist, even questioning why the guards were doing things to him during the via Crucis. The heart of Obama is hardened towards matters of the Church, and the process of engagement has failed. I think it's time to try a new approach.

2. Good intentions have bad consequences...

While I certainly admire the fact you want to be civil with the president, this is a good thing and certainly should be practiced by all of us when engaging the culture,  the perception will be that this talk about Religious Freedom, HHS Mandate, etc, was just a political facade and really it was just cover while in reality, you support the president and his goals towards the Church. I know that this is not the intent of the invite of Obama, but this is how we the faithful will see it. The Gospel of Good Intentions has been tried and really hasn't worked too well so far.

3. There are major differences between the Holy Father meeting the President, and this dinner.

The Holy Father as head of Vatican-City state, meets with the heads of state often. The Holy Father also gave a fraternal correction to Obama, giving him Caritas et veritate, and a copy of Humane Vitae as well. That is to say the Holy Father wasn't civil, he taught the Truth of the Faith, while Obama hasn't listened to Him, He presented the Truth in charity and clarity. He also met with Nancy Pelosi and didn't give her an opportunity for a photo. He did not make it appear as if he was supporting her position. Whether you like it or not, the reality wil be that you are by default supporting Obama by him being there.

7/2. Seeing as if the dinner isn't a reward...I agree...

I agree with you that the dinner is not a reward and shouldn't be seen in that light (it wil be anyway). An invitation was not extended to Bill Clinton because of his moral stance on abortion.  By an earlier Cardinal Archbishop of New York. Seeing as the dinner has declined invitations to people before, perhaps now is a good time to try again.

I will of course pray for you, Your Eminence as well as for our Bishops in this fight. I know this was not an easy decision to make, and while I do disagree with it, and understand your reasoning...It just seems to be a repetitive cycle of things that we have tried and have failed. There comes a time where all of us (I include myself) need to stand up for what is right, regardless of whether it hurts peoples feelings or doesn't seem "nice."  The Gospel of nice and good intentions has been tried before, the definition of insanity is trying the same thing over again, and expecting different results.

Our Lady Queen of martyrs: Pray for us.

7/2 Time-out Tuesday....the vocation edition.

Thanks as always to our gracious host AOA

1) I know it's been a while since I've really discussed vocation things. I guess today would be a good day to start. As many of you know, I'm a former seminarian. As people also know, I don't really have a great ability to forget (let alone forgive) the things that happen to my person. However, here's food for thought...I remember a class during seminary where the priest asked "If your vocation was marriage, how many of you are ready to get married TODAY?" Me being very reserve in my own person did not answer aloud, but I did answer yes to that question. I had someone in mind when I thought of the question. I knew who it would be, where it would take place, the number of kids, and everything that goes with the sacrament of Marriage. I would be lying if this was the only time I thought about marriage during my time in seminary....

2) Marriage is the sacramental union between one man and one woman. Nothing else can be called marriage period. Love is the total gift of self for the sake of another. The ultimate example is the Cross, Jesus dying for our sins. Love involves BOTH the physical and the spiritual. To separate love from the act of pro-creation, would be creating a false love because it would not be the total gift of self for the sake of another. For the homosexual, the only thing that comes of physical acts is "pleasure." It ultimately is an act that is focused on the interior or of self, rather than for another....I've made a few videos in dealing with this subject and I've received my fair share of hate mail. Which reminds me, I probably should get back to making more videos....

3) I can't say that I fully agree with the terminology "falling in love." Rather, I believe more along the lines that love finds us, when we least expect it.  Often times it is said, that love is an emotional thing, which is necessary. The emotions that are attached to love are not necessary for love to exist. The emotions may be there, or they may not be there. Love is an act of the will. One can't love if one does not will such to happen. It can often be very difficult to will to love. But it is true that love does conquer all....and always will, the Cross is love.

7/2) So, what does this mean for me? Well, you'll just have to wait and see. Keeping people in suspense is much more fun :D....but I promise the suspense will not be THAT long....

7/2 Time Out Tuesday....The Independence day version (or so what some think)

as always AOA is our gracious host.

1) Tomorrow is of course July 4th. Which gives me an excuse to make fireworks. But alas no materials to do so this year. So I thus have relatively creative solution for this "problem"....Oops, I better not say anything....that could get me...

2) In Grangeville, ID, we have something called border days....I must say, my taste buds have been satisfied quite nicely....While I'm not going to pull a Father Z, here's a sample of nom noms :D...

3) There are 3 dates I have in mind for a marriage potentially....more discussion about this on a later date.

7/2) I'm sitting here outside, and I would have sworn I saw my ex best friend. But I know she would not make it to Idaho to come see me. I know that for a fact!

7/2 Timeout Tuesday: The World Dictator Edition

hosted by AOA

1) I would not torture anyone. I would merely play Justin Bieber and Rebecca Black music until they confess information that I need to know. All of my minions will have special ear pieces to filter the music. And no these pieces are not available to the general public.

2) I would then ban anyone other than the absolute dictator from playing Justin Bieber. Some may view this as being very nanny statish. Well, yes, I'm doing all of you a service by not allowing him to be played to the general populace. I said I don't believe in torture ;).

3) The TSA would be eliminated immediately. Spy drones have this problem solved already. And I'll be spying from a sleep number bed. (those things are crazy comfortable). Any idiot trying to bring a bomb on a plane will be vaporized.

7/2) All future minions will have to go through a background check....which isn't for me to find information which will be used against you....rather...I must make sure there will be no one to undermine my administration.

7/2 Timeout Tuesday: The Constructive Criticism version

h/t to AOA

1) The Church vocation "crisis"

I love how there are panels to try and solve problems that are blatantly obvious. The solution is quite simple, and it doesn't take someone with a degree in theology to figure it out...

a. The Truth is attractive in of itself because it is written on everyone's heart. Preach the Truth, that is the Catholic Faith, all of it, not the feminized, whimpy, insert liberal word here version of Catholicism, but the full authentic Faith. Why would anyone be attracted to a vocation that is confused about its own identity? It doesn't seem to make sense to leave confusion for more confusion. The vocation of priesthood is unique, and that needs to be emphasized. It's not a glorified community organizer. The priest offers sacrifice, he does not "preside" over the community. This is more evident in the TLM than the NO. And quit with the political correctness while it's on my mind.

b. The discipline in the Roman Church is that priests be celibate. But with the influx of the Anglican Ordinate, and many converts that were allowed to be ordained to the priesthood. Perhaps there may be a slight jealousy or antagonism towards those that have this exception. But really, something to think about, if this discipline were changed, it would be applied as it is in the Eastern Churches: That people must be married before ordination, and not after. While this move would open up many more candidates for the possibility of ordination, really in the theological perspective of the Roman Church, a married priesthood doesn't fit, where as in the Eastern Churches it does. Focus on the faithfulness to the traditions handed down before, not re-inventing the wheel

2) Be appreciative of stuff

a. I must admit when I read certain blogs, I often think to myself, how can these people live? I'm by no means the next coming of St Therese (though I have a huge stubborn streak), I have many many many faults, but I don't see why people don't realize what a great thing a first TLM is, or when a Bishop actually does something right. Believe me, I know, I'm quite pessimistic, but considering the state of the Church a mere 10 years ago, I'd say things are slowly working their way back to normalcy.

b. Recognizing the state of affairs is extremely important. The Church by no means moves fast like on a California freeway. The Church drives -10 mph in an 80 mph zone. Believe me, there's a reason why I'm not a Bishop or a priest. I'd piss everyone off by doing virtually everything us arm chair Bishops do.

3) I would never promote the killing of any...

human being...but I admit, I totally started laughing at this...(sensitive language alert)

7/2) I must say it is annoying when people mispronounce Russian names. Maria Sharapova is at the top of my names you need to say correctly...Here is the proper pronunciation

7/2 Time-out Tuesday: The impressive covers version

hosted by AOA

This week's version is sponsored by covers. Typically, I don't like when artists cover other artists. I prefer original work. However, I make exceptions for those with actual talent that can sing...and by that I mean Ms. Jordan Pruitt, whom I've blogged about before.

1. I turn to you-Christina Augilera. The most impressive thing about this very short version is that she did it WITHOUT the music to the song. Ridiculously impressive!

compare to the original...

2. Love the way you Lie-part 2-JPru. I think I've had the song on here before...but I've never actually compared it to the original. Since no one told Rhianna this, I will, Rhianna, you can't sing, but Ms. Jordan can. :). I really could listen to Ms. Jordan sing all day...anyways

vs. the original (or rather, the below is a bad cover of the above ;))

3. Enough with my Jordan Pruitt non obsession. It's been a slow news day. Actually it's been a slow weekend, so this week in stupidity will have to wait until something stupid shows up.

7/2 The blog owner has graciously decided to share with you more of his fancy handwriting.

22 May 2012

7/2 Timeout Tuesday: The Prediction edition

hosted by AOA

1) On the SSPX thing:

My predictions are as follows. The canonical set up will not quite be an ordinate or a personal prelature. Thanks to Summorum Pontificum, the juridical equivalence of the OF and the EF has been established. Bp. Fellay will be raised to the dignity of Archbishop, and Cardinal Ranjith will be appointed by the Pope to see to the smooth transition. The independence like a diocese, but with a very sympathetic to Tradition to speak to.

The Pope will then have a 2nd wind of energy...and many changes shall happen.

2) The Lakers

Mike Brown will get fired...and replaced with who should have replaced Phil in the first place...Brian Shaw

3) The listed people that are on a mental list that would never be written down for the sake of my own sanity.

Will be reminded in an extremely direct manner that nothing has changed on my opinions about their particular situations. Change sucks...period. I find it absolutely hilarious when people think that my opinions change...they don't :)

7/2) I gave a bonus TWIS video on Saturday...so I'm a bit lazy to make a new one...

15 May 2012

7/2 Time out Tuesday...the comments edition

hosted by AOA

1) Now that my youtube channel is up and running...if you're not subscribed...you should be...link here: I come out with videos on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.

The comments that I've received on last weeks video are quite interesting...It's quite interesting once you take a position...People come after you....and just wait for the video on Islam...but being threatened because I take a stand on something, I guess is part of the territory...I'm thinking this week will be much lighter in fare.

2) Speaking of this week's video...This week's video

Farmville....and missing a target....seriously

3) My high school math teacher for my last 2 years Mrs. Makárova gave me some pretty good advice on teaching: Be consistent...She gave me better advice on life...1) Get a job 2) Plant a tree 3) Write a book 4) Get married 5) have kids....1-3 are covered...(either in the past tense or present)....I should do 4 and 5.

7/2) I read the headlines claiming Obama to be the "first gay president." So does that mean that Obama is a practicing homosexual? If so, where's his partner? Or does that mean Obama is happy? and if so where's the proof? he seems kind of angry to me.

24 April 2012

7/2 Time out Tuesday...The don't piss me off edition.

Graciously hosted by AOA

1) You know, I've been though a lot as a kid. I got picked on...so I tend to be rather defensive when people start attacking my person. I will find out who you are, and I will put a stop to whatever is being said about my person...In this case...someone walking around claiming that they're my g/f......Be warned...I'm GOING to find out who you are and put an end to it...

2) I'm a bit of a perfectionist..if you doubt me or say I can't do something...that provides fuel to prove you wrong :D. You should see how much scratch work was thrown away just because my R or my theta didn't look correct.

3) Did I fail to mention how much I love Jordan Pruitt?...In case I haven't mentioned her enough...here's another song by her :)...Fluidity and effortlessness...I heard that this was the original and Rhianna did a cover of this...but I could be wrong.

7/2...I have another problem I've solved...here's another fully worked out solution to a circuit problem from my physics book. This is problem with 3 resistors in parallel, and the problem wants us to find total resistance, total current, and current for all 3 resistors which have same resistance. In parallel circuits, current divides and the potential difference doesn't change.

22 April 2012

Her voice is effortless...this is why she's good in my opinion :) <3...Can't wait for album number 3...you bet I'm buying it :D

29 March 2012

Little things that make my day

a. my favourite singer Jordan Pruitt now follows me on twitter...I've made several plugs for her on my blog, and I do use a lot of her work in quotes....Yes, I am a proud JPru addict and if you judge me, I do know where you live :p...

b. Latin...and lots of it :)

27 March 2012

7/2 Time Out Tuesday Vol X

hosted by AOA

1) I made a very short video...I hope to do more of these...probably not at 10 pm at night though :p.

2) On slightly more serious note, a few people you should keep in prayer:

a. This guy

@Realbrother0003 on twitter...The lack of love is obvious. It's rather incomprehensible to me that someone can be filled with that much hate towards people. I'm no people person by any means, but I do not hate anyone to the degree that this guy does...if you're not following me @japotillorjr...you should :D (yes, I changed my name from @verbumveritatis, I have my reasons)

b. One of my friends from back home. She is doing well, and her surgery for cancer went well. Just pray for no further complications.

3) Not all of you may be into this style, but the other JP as I refer to her has, has a nice new song :)

7/2) TIme to boost the IQ of 7/2 TOT....again
