Am I the only one who's NOT ready to see St John Paul II, yet? While I do think he was quite saintly, for the elevation of Cardinal Mahony alone...a canonization? The devil's advocate should come back in the canonization process.
And while I'm at it, can we just eliminate the USCCB?
He should be Sancto Subito even with that indiscretion. Whaddya want, perfection? Augustine was an adulterer, for one.
ReplyDeleteI'd like the elimination of the USCCB to happen, esp. because your basic Low Information Catholic thinks that's really the voice of the bishops instead of some unaccountable policy wonks. But, it's not going to happen.
Not only do I rain on parades, I haunt houses and end parties too.
Oh Paul, I believe he should be a saint, but as the old saying goes...not yet, I think we're still in a bit of cult of personality from the JPII years. :p
ReplyDeleteAlas, the USCCB probably won't be eliminated, but Pope Francis can always appoint priests from Africa t take over for the USCCB, in which case, I'd have less of a problem with them, lol...
