Today is the Ascension, no matter what they tell you. It's Ascension Thursday, it didn't happen on a Sunday...All Holy Days should be brought back to their rightful places.
I agree, indeed I think there is a reason for these Bugnini changes, and it is to render those devotions and traditions associated with these days of the old calendar to and no longer fashionable and archaic. Think of the Octave of Pentecost. The English traditions associated with this octave is now reduced to irrelevance, at least to English Catholics not attending the EF of the Roman Rite.
Yep, it's a fashion you know to be attached to the old forms, it's time to conform to the new way *sarcasm off*
Though to be fair to Bugnini, even he didn't go about changing the holy days (but taking out all the octaves is a crime which we may not recover from)...that honor belongs to the Bishops' Conference...which we can say so far, most have failed.
